Happy Birthday

Today is hubbies 50th birthday. It was just over 6 months ago that we sat in a hospital wondering if Dave would live to see his 50th birthday, but here we are celebrating it today. We are celebrating Dave’s birthday because of God’s healing power. We are celebrating Dave’s birthday because of Gods mercy and grace. We are celebrating Dave’s birthday because of the faithful prayers of Brothers and Sisters in Christ. These were not only friends and family that we knew, but prayer warriors from across the country who prayed for Dave. I can’t express enough just how grateful we are for those prayers. I can’t thank the Lord enough for allowing us to celebrate Dave’s 50th today. Happy Birthday David I love you and thank God for you and your life today and every day!

Ever have a random thought that wouldn’t leave you until you researched it a bit? Well for the past two weeks or so from about 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. give or take a few minutes a very bright star can be seen from our bedroom window – rising low in the east until it high in the sky in the east.

First few nights didn’t give it much thought, but then Dave and I both noticed it was brighter than all the other stars. This got me to thinking about the original star in the east and how it announced the arrival of the King. This made my mind think about this star and its announcing the Coming of the King.

So I did some research into that first star and what made the magi follow it in the first place. People don’t believe the magi come from the orient, but are indeed from Persia and descendants of the wise men from Babylon.

When the captives from Jerusalem were taken to Babylon they also took when them their history and scripture – so the wise men learned these. They learned about Balaam’s prophecy in Numbers 24:17 which mentioned a star “I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, And batter the brow of Moab, And destroy all the sons of tumult.

They also would have known of Genesis 49:10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people. They would know Daniels prophecy in Daniel 9:25-26 which mentions Jerusalem. Which is why the magi went to Jerusalem instead of Bethlehem because the magi did not have the prophecies of Micah which stated the Messiah would be born in
Bethlehem (Micah 5:2).

So what about the star? Well it seems that only the Magi saw the star – which is why Herod asked them when it appeared. It also isn’t a planet or a comet or any other star we know of…why? Because the star rose in the East – traveled West like most stars, but they banked South to Bethlehem and then stopped over 1 house.

Strange star…so what was it really? The star was the Shechinah Glory of God and it could move a showed the presence of God. The Glory of God is mentioned through out scripture,,,what an awesome star. While the star I see in the early morning hours may not be the Shechinah Glory of God – it does remind me that Gods spirit is present and moving…much like that star.

Yes I remember 9-11 – who really can forget it.  We remember the shock, the sorrow, the unbelievable sadness and we remember those we lost.  But do we remember right after the towers went down?  People came together in droves to pray and hold hands with strangers.  Black, white, yellow or red….it made no difference.  The only thing we were that day and the days that followed were Americans United.  Its been 14 years and though we remember the fallen seems we have forgotten their legacy of Uniting America.  Yes it truly is a sad day.
