In Revelation God shows miraculous signs in the heavens and the earth and yet people never turn to God – I could never understand this.  I always heard people say if I had been alive to see all the signs God showed Israel then they would never doubt…or if they could have seen the signs Jesus did – then they would believe.  This is a common cry in this land – God show us a sign and we will believe.  This same cry allows atheism to flourish because they say God never ‘proves’ His existence to them – thus concluding God does not exist.

So this past couple of weeks I have been reading headline after headline of destruction or near destruction.  This is not  in isolated locations anymore such as remote areas of Turkey or Nepal, but right here in the USA and things are looking to get much worse quickly.  There are earthquakes, dormant volcanoes showing signs of life, tornadoes and violent storms wreaking havoc across the US.  This destruction has people asking what is going on and  the ‘experts’ are giving every reason known to man as to  the cause of all of this. It was these ‘experts’ that finally helped me understand the people mentioned in Revelation.

You see God did everything to get these peoples attention, burnt the grass, killed the animals on land and sea, car sized hail, creatures to torment them – but all they did was curse God even more . I can even hear some saying well if there is a God – then He would stop all this.  But you see God was using all this to try one last time to get people to turn to Him- He did not want any to perish in their sins.

The bible tells us that the weather we are experiencing now is like a woman just beginning labor, A woman just beginning  labor isn’t done with the first pain….that is only the beginning…so is this ‘wild’ weather  only the beginning.  God is beginning to shake the heavens and the earth in an attempt to get us to take Him, His Son Jesus and His Word seriously…but we are doing exactly what the people in Revelation did….ignoring God.  We are trying to find anyone who will explain this as anything but God.  We want people to make us feel better about this – we don’t want to do serious thinking – we have enough pressures from life without thinking about all this….God is love after all.

The bible is clear that we are in the time described as the ‘endtimes’ a much as we wish it weren’t so.  The bible is also clear that during this time people with go about their lives as if nothing is wrong until destruction come upon them suddenly.  Luke 17: 26-27 describes this vividly 26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

So the question becomes how will we react to whats going on around us?  Will this drive us to our knees in repentance or will it send us searching for answers apart from Gods Word?  Gods word tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Its not too late – the end is coming, but it is not here yet.  Today God is calling all of us to repentance – He already paid the price with the death of His Only Son Jesus…all we have to do is accept the forgiveness that Jesus offers. John 3:16 says For GOD so LOVED the world that He GAVE His ONLY begotten SON that whosoever BELIEVETH IN HIM should NOT perish, but have everlasting life.  Jesus will give you a new heart, a new life in him and you will join the family of God….not needing to worry about the judgement that is coming.

God is holding back judgement waiting for us to decide, but He won’t hold back for much longer.

2 Corinthians 6:2    2 For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”  Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
