Today I was seeing article after article that shows the church not just in a moral decline, but in out right sin.  They were doing things that is so beyond the pale – it was so disheartening.  Then I was sent a video of a women that turned it all around.  She did something that goes against all political correctness – she was willing to take a stand for Christ.  That is not popular in today’s culture – oh they are fine if you have a Sunday type of relationship with  Jesus, but don’t let that relationship follow you on Monday.  I am including the link in this post – I believe it is one every believer needs to see.

Rise up church for the days of your ease are over!! Rise up Christian for now is your time to take a spiritual stand…and having done all to stand…STAND!!

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, Ephesians 6:12-14

Today in the United States of America – sin is running rampant in the streets.  It goes from the smallest town right to the White House itself.  Of course there has always been sin in the USA – and in the rest of the world for that matter (since the fall of man).  What is different today is that sin is not just accepted…it is celebrated, embraced, excused and expected as normal

Lets start with lying….we expect people to lie in fact we are so polite to call small little’ unimportant’ lies – white lies. We expect our politicians to look us in the eye and lie to us…we just call it ‘playing politics’.  We figure everyone lies – so lets just call it a normal part of life.

Lust is another sin that is so much a part of the American culture that to attack it is deemed un-american…even prudish. Movies glamorize it , psycologists say its natural, really whats wrong with looking at a  cute guy or gal and thinking some not to good thoughts…I mean who will know?  Then there is the sin of Homosexuality – which people want everyone to accept as normal.  They go so far as  to hold parades, give information to young kids in school and demand you accept their sin or be labeled an intolerant hater.

Let us not forget the sin of Pride.  We give trophies to everyone who plays a game – win or lose.   We tell people that if they don’t boast in their accomplishments they must have low self-esteem. Pride is such a driving force in our society and we look on it as a great motivating factor…not as something that has destroyed whole nations.  What about murder…murder is everywhere in America – we call it abortion, but again to not accept it means you hate women, freedom and even babies.  Yes you hate babies because you would want ‘unwanted’ babies born – how hate filled you must be.

Do you see the ugly pattern here, besides that fact that America is a nation with a sin problem?  No matter what the sin is…it has been deemed acceptable, normal, expected.  If you have the nerve to confront sin – you are instantly labeled intolerant, hate filled, uncaring….obviously the lowest of the low.  However if you are a Christian you have the responsibility to confront sin when you find it – whether in yourself or in the world around around you.

Ezekiel 44:7-9  says  7 “Son of man, I have appointed you as a prophet to warn the people of Israel. So listen to my message. Give them a warning from me. 8 “Suppose I say to a sinful person, ‘You can be sure that you will die.’ And suppose you do not try to get him to change his ways. Then he will die because he has sinned. And I will hold you accountable for his death. 9 “But suppose you do warn that sinful person. You tell him to change his ways. But he does not do it. Then he will die because he has sinned. But you will have saved yourself.

Imagine being held accountable for those dying in their sin around you because you refused to confront sin or to even warn  them about the eternal consequences of sin.  Do we as Christians so want to be accepted, loved and so well thought of by the world that we are willing to shut our mouths while the world around us dies?  The word of God tells us  i n Romans 12:2  ‘And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.’

We as Christians need to lose the’ go along to get along’ mentality that has engulfed the church.  We need to stand up and separate ourselves from this world.  We can’t show God’s saving grace or God’s great mercy if we are just sitting on the sidelines or worse yet – encouraging sin to abound.  We must be the light in a very dark world…if we are not, what good are we at all?

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Matthew 5:13-15
